The picture to the left shows the historic Lillesand of the late 1800's. In this period Lillesand was a major shipbuilding town. As you can see the vessels being built were not the modern ocean liner of today, but sailing vessels used for trading between continents. | |||||||||||

The town is dominated by a small church on top of the hill overlooking
the picturesque harbour. Lillesand has in the past often been frequented by cruise ships burgeoning with American tourists. |

Skuggevik is originally a small farm 2km west of Lillesand. Many of todays inhabitants are descendents of Oluf Olsen who founded the farm 100 years ago. Oluf and Berte where parents to 10 children, amongst them Olav Skuggevik. This website is dedicated to the life and times of his direct descendents. | |||||||||||

Lillesand has been inundated with snow, which has now rained away.
